Bio
Born in Taiwan, I arrived in Canada 20 years ago.
Though a licensed professional structural engineer, I've embarked on my career change journey since 2005. Being ever the nerd, I've started the journey the geeky way: looking for relevant classes available in the Toronto area and enrolled in whatever courses that has a good standing in the industry.

Since then, I've obtained the translators' certificate from University of Toronto and the interpreters' certificate from MCIS (Multilingual Community Interpreter Services). I've also passed the CILISAT test and waiting for the result form the IRB (Immigration and Refugee Board) language test.

I've noticed the benefit of going the 'geeky' way: I stumble less on terms on interpreting assignments comparing to even the more experienced interpreters. And the quality of my translation is accurate, fast and aesthetic...feedback from people who know both languages.

While the journey was enjoyable, the destination is even more rewarding. I love going out on interpreting assignments, making a positive difference on clients’ lives. Working as a freelance contractor allows me the time to pursue my other passion: writing. And writing continues to ensure the quality of my translation work.

I am fortunate to love my job, and I know now that the best career choice is to do things one truly enjoys. And most of all, that’s the best way to achieve excellence on anything we do.
