Report from  Suzanne Deliscar
The pictures for the Toronto Powwow on February 26, 2009 are now up. Thank you Roberto!
We had a great turn out of 14 people, and there probably would have been more had there not been a Toronto subway disruption.

The following issues were discussed during the evening:

1. The recession and its effect on freelance translators
2. How to deal with non-payment
3. motivation
4. Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) certification
5. CAT tools
6. rates
7. training

It was agreed that we should try to meet every four months (once per season). In addition, Emanuele Oriano advised that there is an informal translators' group already meeting the last Friday of every month at Madison Avenue Pub in Toronto (Spadina Subway Station), and we are welcome to attend. A good time was enjoyed by all, and the restaurant seems to be a good location in terms of accessibility. If anyone would like a detailled copy of the discussion notes I took, please send me a message and I will send you a scanned copy. Thanks you for your attendance and participation.

I uploaded the pictures on Friday, and I still don't see them either. They should appear on the powwow report page. The pictures have to be approved by site staff first. Hope that helps.
