Statistic Apr 27, 2010

Yueyin and Bin,

I've also noticed the system prompt before, but didn't think too much of it until Bin pointed out the possibility of it being somewhat of a deterrent.

If I'm not mistaken, you get such a system prompt on your 6th posting in an individual thread and thereafter. Who knows; it might just be some totally innocent statistic. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless Management gives specific guidance on limiting one's number of posts on an individual topic.

Yueyin,

Steve,

时,你应该说 "I am well”,不能说 "I am good” 。可是我后来发现,美国人往往答 "I am good” 或 "Not too bad“,很少用 "I am well” 或 "Very well"。

Steve,

http://en.expo2010.cn/sr/video/shipin2.htm

Yueyin,

I just watched the promotional clip entitled "Expo 2010 'Online Expo'", and the narrator put it this way ...

... The physical Expo will come to an end. And with the few exceptions of the China Pavillion and the Theme Pavillions, all of the other buildings will be dismantled after the Expo is over. However, with Expo Shanghai Online, highlights of the Expo 2010 will be preserved for future generations ...

Indeed. It's quite confusing for some people ...

"How are you?"
"Oh, not bad.", "I'm pretty good.", "Fine(adj.), thanks", etc.

"How are you doing?"
"Quite well, thank you.", "Very well, thanks", "Fine(adv.), thanks", etc.

Also as Grammar Girl explained, "I am well" normally is a reply that refers to one's recovery from a recent illness.
