Hello,
I have a stupid problem. I try to burn a DVD with different burning software like Nero, CDRWin and CloneCD. The burning process seems always to be OK but afterwards the disk stays empty. I didn't tick simulate or other options like this and it worked before.
It seems to be more a hardware problem. Is there a way to test the burning device or to do something else?
Thanks in advance
Noe

Hi Noe,
does it read any CDs/DVDs at all? If not the laser could be either dirty or old. For the first possibility you might use cotton wool with demineralized water (be careful not to touch the lens with anything else and get yourself grounded before!) but the latter one could only be solved by turning that tiny little potentiometer-screw at the laser very, very carefully trying to make the light stronger - but this is a rather difficult procedure There are a few other (electronical) possibilities why a CD/DVD-burner won't work any more but to find out which one it is would take quite a lot of time and - unless you have a good friend who could do this for free - sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new device...
Good luck!
Charlotte

Hello Charlotte,
thank you very much for your answer. It can actually read CDs. I can even burn CDs. It's quite stange. I tried to clean the lens but it didn't help. The pontiometer operation is too technical for me.
All the best
Noe

Dear Friends,
My writer also does not seem to be working. As I try to write the files, again reinserting cd, it shows empty. I'm using Nero CD Burner. The message it shows is download neroburnrights. I've done so, but still facing problems. What may be the reason?
Well, where is the lens located?
