CLEANING Feb 27, 2006

If the mouse worked OK but suddensly started to behave erratic it has nothing to do with software. I had the same problem several times, and it always came down to dust and cat/hair inside the mouse and/or in the led/openings on the underside. A little maintenace every now and then is a must also on the computer hardware. You clean your car sometimes, right?

Yes, mice need spring cleaning ocCASIONALY.

aLSO MAKE SURE THE UNDERSIDE IS CLEAN.

fINALLY, MAKE SURE IT'S WELL PLUGGED IN (IF NOT WIREless)

Maybe it's a setting Feb 27, 2006

Color of the mouse pad Feb 27, 2006

I had this same problem for weeks.
Then my 18-year old son walked in and told me that my mouse pad was too colorful. An optical mouse reacts to the colors on the mouse pad.
I changed the mouse pad to an all-blue mouse pad and the problem was instantly gone.

Case solved. And I didn't need a priest. Feb 27, 2006

Thanks everyone for your suggestions but kflatter was right. I hadn't even remembered that I have a new desk, that's when the problem started. I put the mouse on a blank piece of paper and it worked like a charm. I would have never guessed.

Thanks kflatter and thank your son too.

Claudia

PS. For the record I just wanna say that I keep my mouse very clean. I checked
