Metatexis disappears time and again Thread poster: Martin Wenzel
|
I have just reinstalled Word and Metatexis. Each time I open a Word document I have to go to the command "Modeles et complements" (sorry I have the French version, it's the command under extras, macros) and put the tick in the Metatexis box. When I close the Word document and reopen, Metatexis has disappeared again. I never had this problem before.... Thanks for any hints. Do you have other applications/plug-ins? I.e. Acrobat, Trados, Wordfast? Acrobat is a well-known culprit. Which Word version do you use? | | | Martin Wenzel Germany Local time: 11:45 English to German + ... TOPIC STARTER Word version 2003 | Nov 22, 2008 |
Thanks for your reply, Spiros. Trados is not installed at the moment. Metatexis used to coexist happily with Trados. I am going to deinstall Acrobat reader version 7 in a minute to see if it makes a difference. Martin | | | Martin Wenzel Germany Local time: 11:45 English to German + ... It looks to me like Metatexis hasn't been installed completely or some dll hasn't been registered correctly. I would recommend to remove it completely and reinstall once again. | | | jacana54 (X) Uruguay English to Spanish + ... be careful don't throw out your TM and DTB | Nov 22, 2008 |
I would do what Natalie suggests, it once worked for me for a quite similar problem. Just be careful not to throw out what you already have in the TM in the process (I did, but rescued it from the recycling bin!). | | | Spiros Doikas Local time: 12:45 Member (2002) English to Greek + ... | Adobe Reader doesn't plug in MS Office | Nov 22, 2008 |
The original poster mentioned Acrobat Reader 7, not Adobe Acrobat. The MS Office plugin is a feature of the full Acrobat, not of Reader. Therefore, if only Adobe Reader (former Acrobat Reader) has been installed, it will not interfere with MS Word. | |

of Metatexis may be the right thing to do, but I need to finish my translation first, I don't want to risk loosing the TM with 40,000 entries. To import these again would also take a long time... But why do you need to import your TM after reinstalling Metatexis? TM is not affected in any way by uninstalling/reinstalling... You just open your document, choose your TM and start working.
