Hi Kim: yes, people like us are one group it was supposed to help, but if you earn a certain amount of money, you will not qualify for any subsidies and any plan you might qualify for may not be any better or in fact may be worse than what you have now, which is the situation I am in. I already have a pretty bad plan, but the ones I would qualify for are even worse with even more money out of pocket. So yes, the Affordable Care Act would mean freelancers cannot be denied insurance, but you still have to be able to pay for it -- and there's the rub.
