Why is it that the date of the starting post is missing from the list of threads within a forum? It is displayed on the "Most Recent Posts" list, but disappeared from sub-forums. Could we please have it back? It is an important piece of info. I try to insert a combined screenshot here to illustrate: | | | MollyRose United States Local time: 04:37 English to Spanish + ...
I think you need to contact the ProZ people instead of posting requests like this in a forum. I don't think they monitor the forums very closely, so they might not notice your request. | | | May be a platform/browser issue? | Oct 27, 2020 |
Hi Molly, Thank you for the instruction. Before I submit a Support Request to the “ProZ people”, I thought I would post here, to see if others are seeing the same issue, given that the pages of the ProZ site often show up differently when using different platforms (OS, browser). In the past, sometimes settings or removing/history, cookies helped with glitches that arised from updated code. Discussion among forum users helped figuring that out, and that way the solution was also shared. Submitting a Support Request may solve things for the submitter, but not for others with the same problem. So, just in case it is not a general issue affecting everyone, I posted here to collect that info. I am using Windows and Firefox. Do you see the same problem on your setup? ▲ Collapse | | | Heinrich Pesch Finland Local time: 12:37 Member (2003) Finnish to German + ... Has it ever been there? | Oct 28, 2020 |
I see the date on the general forum page and the page Most recent ..., there it is in the rightmost column.

The date/time is displayed there OK, I am not talking about that. I am talking about the first/starting post of the thread, under the column header "Poster". I think the date used to be there, and that is why I noticed it is missing now. I like to see it when browsing through the list, to see how old the thread is. | | | Lincoln Hui Hong Kong Local time: 17:37 Member Chinese to English + ...

I agree, the date when the thread was started is important information. It is visible for me.

I rarely visit the subforum home pages, so I did not even notice this until you pointed it out. Like many people here, I just use the "Recent posts" page, and I have subscriptions to new threads in a couple of subforums I'd like to follow. But I agree with you that this sort of information would be very important when viewing a subforum's own home page. After all, I suspect some people who visit such a page are looking specifically for older posts, and then the starting date becomes even more useful. For those who believe that they can see the dates, go to this page: https://www.proz.com/forum/categories/translation_art_business-translation.html and then go to any of the subforums from there. Or, at the top of this page you're reading right now, click the "Site forums" link in the breadcrumbs, and it'll take you to the "Site forums" subforum's home page. This is where the starting dates are wanted.

I can see a date that is not the date when the thread was started, over to the right. I too would like to see the date. Sometimes it is interesting to see what people said years ago, but the posts must be seen in the right perspective! | | | Support request submitted | Oct 29, 2020 |
I submitted a Support Request with a link to this discussion, and I received a reply that they sent the issue to the “development factory”.

Deleted - not very helpful. A sudden desire for facetiousness in a weak moment between jobs. Sorry about that. I hope that development factory's on the case.

Got it in an email anyway - had a good laugh. | | | Mervyn Henderson (X) Spain Local time: 11:37 Spanish to English + ...
Of course - the e-mail to the OP swings in right away. What can I say? I just thought "stolen dates", and my incorrigibly strange and strangely incorrigible mind pictured a swarthy hand swiping a few of them off a barrow in a busy Cairo market. Thanks for seeing the funny side, and I hope it works out. | | | Pages in topic: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Date of starting the thread is missing - please put it back Protemos translation business management system | Create your account in minutes, and start working! 3-month trial for agencies, and free for freelancers!
