Disney announced its streaming service Disney+ (or Disney Plus) on Thursday. It will be available starting November in US.

What do you think subtitlers, do we benefit from it? They have huge archive, they have huge localized archive, but still? I don't know, anyone knows the industry better can tell us (subtitle translators) what to expect or not to expect from this new streaming service, in terms of subtitling jobs.

Thank you.

Theoretically, according to the laws of supply and demand, this would be a good time for a rate hike.

Practically, this will probably just result in more desperate or wannabe translators slaving away at ridiculously low rates, followed by complaints about poor quality.
