Master's in Translation Studies (University of Glasgow)
Specialised in translating for a non-native Anglophone audience

I specialise in life sciences translation, and also have a more creative side that comes into play when translating marketing or literary texts. From my two years working in-house in the Prague office of a global language services provider, I have not only honed my translation skills and become a specialist in certain fields, but have also gained a unique insight into how a translation company works and how to best meet client needs. The key to my success is precision, as well as communicating with project managers and being attentive to client demands.

Before becoming a full-time translator, I completed a Master's in Translation Studies at the University of Glasgow and attained a first class Honour's degree in Spanish and French from Queen's University Belfast, as well as undertaking a translation internship at the Universidad de Alcalá. I particularly enjoyed translating literature and researching this field during my studies, and for my Master's dissertation I explored how best to translate for a non-native English speaking audience, which is becoming more and more pertinent today with globalization. This academic foundation goes hand in hand with the practical experience I have gained to make me a meticulous and accurate translator who is never lost for words.

When I am not translating, I try to learn something new every day. I enjoy getting outdoors, whether for an energetic hike or a stroll through the city with my camera. I spend a lot of time reading, anything from history to crime fiction, and I volunteer in various capacities. World cinema, cooking and running are also among my hobbies. Like many translators, I of course love to travel, and have lived in Spain and the Czech Republic as well as spending months volunteering and working in France. This has given me a valuable glimpse into many different cultures and ways of life, and I am a much richer person thanks to all my friends and acquaintances from across the globe.
