You may assume that unsubscribing from Prime will be a very difficult thing to do, but in reality it is actually easy. To unsubscribe from Amazon Prime, access your account by signing in, then choose “Your Prime Membership” from “Account & Lists” drop-down.
On the screen’ left side, you will find the “End Membership and Benefits” option. Click on the link, and verify your action (membership cancellation).
Will my membership fee be refunded?
Should you decide to discontinue your membership on Amazon Prime, it is very likely that your membership fee will not be refunded. But if your cancellation is within 3 days of when you signed up or within 3 days of when you upgraded from your free trial account to a paid account, you are entitled to a refund. Just be informed that Amazon will deduct whatever Prime benefits must have been used within that timeframe.
You are equally due for a membership fee refund when your cancelation is done before taking advantage of any of the Prime benefits. Hence, if you renewed your membership at October’ end and you find out in the middle of November that you want out, you can be refunded, as long as you never used any Prime services.
Getting a Prime account for less
How about wanting some Prime benefits because you cannot afford the cost of $119 for a year? You can leverage some options.
You can stick with the $12.99 a month plan, even though this very plan seem to be more expensive if you are looking at the whole year. If your intention is to make your purchases during specific times such as holiday periods, it could amount to saving money.
If this is your first time of using Prime, you can register for the free trial. That way, you would know whether you will like it. Based on Tom’s Guide, it is possible to do another free trial of 30 days after 12 months have elapsed.
Occasionally, Amazon makes up for delays in shipping by extending Prime membership by one extra month. If you have an order that failed to arrive when expected, get in touch with customer service – you may just get one Prime month free.
