I must say that I continue to be breathless at how well ProZ.com anticipates / accommodates the needs of freelance translators. . . I was tearing my hair out and tossing small wads of money down the drain trying to find an invoicing program that did only what yours now does and nothing more.
It's definitely worth it. I've been a registered user at ProZ.com since 2002, but only started getting jobs through the site after becoming a member. The membership fee paid back after the first order.
I found ProZ.com quite useful initially (the term search, KudoZ, the glossaries, etc.), but it really came into its own when I became a paying member. Now, nearly all of my jobs come through my ProZ.com profile, and through repeat requests from regular clients, and I can't remember the last time I actually bid for a job.
The Blue Board is extremely useful for filtering out undesirable clients (bad/slow payers) - a feature that is only available to full members, but it is worth its weight in gold.
Most of my new clients now come from ProZ.com, and I have to say that fine-tuning my profile has generated some pretty good "matches" (clients that are willing to pay my rates for specific subject areas). I think ProZ.com is a great source of new clients and it is also hugely helpful in avoiding bad payers.
Sites like ProZ.com work for you 24 hours, even when you sleep. ProZ.com landed me two regular end clients, and I got many other jobs, not to speak about digital exposure. I ask all my clients how they found me and why they selected me, and not someone else. This past year has been great. I woke up one morning deciding to go back to translating full time but I was not 100% sure that my decision was the right one. I left my "safe" English teaching job and recontacted my old clients. It didn't take long and I was soon back on track. Thanks to ProZ I have made contacts with new agencies around the world. I have met colleagues worldwide and found new friends... Words are my passion and this is the ideal job for me with growing children who love to see me around. In my case, an agency found me on ProZ and I got a dream job (10-year full time translation project) which changed my life completely. Later, I found a job post on ProZ which put me into $10K book translation project. Just 2 big ones in years but these were real jewels.

A few months ago I bid on a job because it called my name. The poster happily agreed to my rate and we've been working together ever since!

Avant tout, ProZ.com représente pour moi une plate-forme d’échanges internationale permettant de côtoyer d’autres traducteurs via les forums et les formations. J’apprécie également la possibilité de pouvoir obtenir des informations sur les agences de traduction et les donneurs d’ordre en général grâce au Blue Board (certes non exhaustif, mais ô combien utile !), et de l’aide en cas de besoin avec les KudoZ. De plus, grâce à ProZ.com, j’ai trouvé un client avec lequel je travaille régulièrement : espérons que cela ne soit que le début d’une longue série!
