My Facebook account is for friends I know "socially"... Oct 28, 2018

... so there is no connection between my Facebook profile and my work as a translator, although some of my (Facebook) friends happen to be translators.

Also, I have become friends with some translators through my work, but we are not connected via Facebook or any other social media.

So, the answer is: I have never received jobs or client contacts via Facebook.

No, I don't use [The]FaceBook Oct 28, 2018

Didn't you read the tale where after being seriously charged with hacking plus copyrights and individual privacy violating a student happily started a private-data biz almost from scratch?

Don't you know such a rare tale-tell in which all one ever wanted came as a promised American Dream in some 23--just for show?

While social network surrogate often used as a self-display to find new likers ("prospects"), I don't consider zillion of "virtual friend" any worthy

I have in fact... Oct 28, 2018

My major Facebook activity is in a closed group for translators, and I think I have agreed to one job through it. I have certainly been suggested there for other jobs, which for one reason or another I did not do.

The one job I did came from a colleague whom I had met and actually worked for long before I joined the Facebook group.

I am a member of another group or two, but apart from those, I keep a very low profile on Facebook.

Not there Oct 28, 2018

There is a page on Facebook (an Italian one) on which they publish interpreting and translating jobs.
However, I never applied to one of them and they never asked me for working for them, as well.

Yes, quite a few times Oct 28, 2018

I never used FB or any social media for job-seeking purposes. However, due to my participation in translators' pages, I've been contacted or indicated by colleagues several times for jobs. Some of these indications have actually turned out to regular clients.
Social media is certainly not the right channel for that purpose, but it does help sometimes.

BTW: I have a LinkedIn account for the same time, and that one has NEVER rendered me any jobs or positive professional outcomes

I have a Facebook profile because I needed to look up localized strings from the Facebook UI many years ago for some translation project I can't remember. My Facebook name is that of a small rodent, so no, nobody has ever tried to assign a translation project to a small rodent.

There were some job offers through a translation forum but I didn’t find them interesting and “no thanks”.

However I do use social media for both personal and professional reasons. In order to focus on other things, I use a timesaving posting service that I set up once a week to post on various venues, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. There are several out there, I use Crowdfire.

Basically I share my Blog posts about expat living - Amerikanka in Croatia 🇭🇷- with helpful comments suggestions and sometimes I
am approached professionally for translation jobs, relocation advice and even real estate (I am also a real estate agent).

This week, I am translating a book 📚 by a client who approached me on LinkedIn.

Basically, all roads lead to Rome -but in my case, Croatia 🇭🇷
