I've been off since Dec 26. I rarely get through a job without consulting a print reference. I often use them for finding more nuanced translations when I'm already familiar with the source word (e.g., Martínez-Amador into English). I use the print version of Dorland's Medical Dictionary because it's faster to consult than the online version. I have some very comprehensive Dutch↔English paper dictionaries about agriculture, veterinary sciences and environment, which are not available online or in digital format. While I am working on a medical translation right now (for which I have a local digital dictionary), I use those paper dictionaries at least once every week.

When translating from Romanian. I have a very good old Romanian dictionary, it is faster to open it than to try to find my way through Dexonline.

I had a doubt concerning a medical term and I consulted my trusted Stedman’s. It sits proudly on the shelf near my desk: it’s much easier to reach it than to search the Net for info and I love the comfortable feeling of thumbing through a dictionary…

Admittedly, it was because we needed to check something for the crossword, but I have already used my Swedish paper dictionary this year. (I don't like the monthly subscription system online and it's too expensive for the limited use I make of it, so I only use the free online dictionary).
I do pay a solid subscription for my Danish package online, and would not be without it - I get more volumes and more frequent updates than I could with the paper versions for the same price. I ha... I have a large collection of specialist dictionaries and reference books. Either they are not online, or it would be very expensive to subscribe to them all, so I use one or another every week, depending on what I am working on.
Some of my older paper dictionaries are more detailed than the online versions - I still have my Concise Oxford with my mother's inscription from 1966, and there are things in that which have been edited out of the later versions! The same goes for the Danish monolingual in the same size - I frequently use the older book, even though I have the latest version on a CD...
i am privileged to work in a language pair where there have been some very good lexicographers and resources to support them, so I have a wide choice of dictionaries, and that makes my work a lot easier. ▲ Collapse

I absolutely love my French print & reference dictionaries! I generally always come back to both my 'Collins-Roberts French Unabridged Dictionary' and also 'Le Petit Robert de la Langue Française.'
They're so useful in so many ways. I swear by them.

The use of paper dictionaries nowadays is a mere question of taste. There is no information you can find in a paper dictionary that you can't find in an updated version in at least 10 references in the internet. It's either because people like paper and weight too much or because they don't really know how to search in Google propperly.
