I have used the "filter" function with several persons who have shown a pattern of either 1.) not awarding points to me in instances when I thought my answer was clearly superior to the others offered or 2.) posting questions in very sloppy ways that make the answerer do a lot of guesswork in order to come up with an answer. This latter problem mainly involves not providing sufficient context--or even any at all.

My own thought with regard to the first category is that I am not interested in wasting my time answering questions in which I'm not given a fair shake to be awarded points. With regard to the second, I don't really feel inclined to help someone who hasn't taken the trouble to provide me with the information I need to offer a plausible answer to his or her question, in cases where it is clearly possible to do so. ▲ Collapse

I was very tempted one day simply to answer 'buy a dictionary' to one asker who works in a large number of language pairs and sends dozens of questions out - for several days in a row - which any points grabber can score on simply by looking up the answer in the basic dictionaries.
I hope this person is more independent in some of the other language pairs, because it would be better to concentrate on one or two and translate really well.

There are others, but none of them have annoyed me quite so much!
It's not entirely fair, but it saves a lot of annoyance, and then I can forget my pet aversions. We have all been beginners once, and I can see others are willing to help, so I don't think my 'victims' suffer from my prejudice. I think it's a good way of keeping the tone friendly on the site
I have considered flagging one or two favourites, but I have not actually done so. I check through KudoZ when I have time, and add good answers regularly to my wordlists and dictionaries. These answers come from many different people.

Too late to add But you're right: I should have. Sorry! I am so involved in KudoZ acitivity myself that I "forgot" someone might not participate. How selfish of me

I have to confess that I do have a few filters on. Bliss.
I've filtered out a couple of askers who dart questions out like there's no tomorrow and have not only given zero thought to their questions but have a proven habit of giving zero thought to grading them as well.

dropped the idea when I learned that the asker was simply a hard-working student after he contacted me personally and asked me for help with research. My pleasure to help out there.
Honestly, I even find some "targeted" questions annoying - when the question is no expert question at all. Little bit bumptious in some cases..

I'm very pleased to have this flag/filter feature, especially the filter. It helps me keep my cool – there's less frustration because I've less exposure to askers who rub (selfish) me the wrong way, e.g. by incessantly ignoring common courtesy, pleas for context...
Of course, the flag/filter function only addresses the symptoms, not the problem. Still, I'm glad it was introduced.

Being in the most popular language pair, a long time ago I started getting too many e-mails so I went to the setting where I could turn off all announcements of questions.
So in essence I just filtered out everyone.
Then when I sign in, I just look at whatever is pending and take it from there. That works fine.

I have names to filter and names to flag, I think probably only two of each. But what I would like is a function that would completely block a person from answering and/or commenting on my questions. There are certain individuals whose input I absolutely do not need.
