The core message was that the artificial island Peberholm ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peberholm ) which was created when the bridge/tunnel combination between Denmark and Sweden was built had finally been proclaimed as tax haven by the Danish government. Our representative in Copenhagen, the fake company Føsta Ifjæhde (sounds in Swedish almost like 1st of 4th, i.e. 1st of April) had informed us about this new opportunity. Due to a very high taxation in Germany, lack of broadband connection at our present location (true!), better communications by plane to/from Copenhagen and closer distance to our clients in northern Europe, we had decided to open a branch on the island. The result of opening a branch in a tax haven would be that the headquarters would remain in German just pro forma and the real work would be coordinated from the new branch. The tax rate on the island should be just 4,1 % (!) general tax. Our new staff on Peberholm: - Olaf Prilo (office manager) > letters switched around: April Fool - Henri Escroc responsible for accounting > French escroc is swindler - Stina Schkojare, assistant to Henri > Swedish skojare is cheat - Liisa Luku-ja-Kirjoitustaidoton taking care of proof-reading - Finnish luku- ja- kirjoitustaidoton means problems in reading and writing. It took a while to weave this story together but it was worth every second Erik ********************************** Erik Hansson ( SFÖ ) Technical translator DE-SV Hansson Übersetzungen GmbH Am Birkenwäldchen 38 D-01900 Bretnig-Hauswalde, Germany Phone +49 - 3 59 52 - 321 07 Fax +49 - 3 59 52 - 322 02 E-Mail [email protected] Internet www.hansson.de Internet www.technical-translators.net Internet www.wintitus.de ProZ profile http://www.proz.com/pro/21654 ***********************************

I posted on the Russian-speaking forum in Germany that according to Süddeutsche Zeitung the required time of residence in the country to be elligible to apply for citizenship for spouses of German citizens will be reduced from three to one year. I was overwhemled be the amount of questions like Do we still have to do German test? or Do we still have to make the new citizenship test? etc. Mean, I know, I know... April Fools Day | Apr 3, 2006 |
In Spain April Fools day is not widely (if at all) recognised. In fact I think it is an Anglo-Saxon tradition. El dia de los Santos inocentes is celebrated on December 28th and this is the day for "bromas". | | |
... but I did buy my nearest and dearest a chocolate fish! Why a fish... because in France, the tradition is to pin a paper fish to the back of "victims" of April Fool's jokes. This particular fish had smaller chocolate fish inside. Last Easter I bought a chocolate hen who ALSO had chocolate fish inside... very strange! | | | Just the normal pranks... | Apr 3, 2006 |
I'm always joking around with my family and we had a great time on Saturday trying to pull the wool over each others' eyes. Mind you, my daughter is seven, so all of the jokes were relatively harmless (not like the stuff I used to pull on my three younger brothers). ;-] (That's supposed to be my rendition of an evil grin) My wife got me going first thing in the morning when she looked out the window and exclaimed that the ground was covered in snow. The weather has been rather strange lately and I'm (now) totally sick of winter, so that got me right where it hurts. But nobody exchanged the sugar with the salt, so no real damage was done (been there, done that). BTW - What's up with all the party poopers?

My daughter (age 11) hd a friend over, and they proceeded to booby trap the house. Nothing particularly subtle or vicious, so I didn't actually get caught by any, but they were quite funny. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Did you make an April fools joke on Saturday?
