I wondered if Other included Vision+Back+Shoulder+Hands and combinations thereof.

I have developed 'translation elbow' (yes: 'translation' elbow, I cannot blame my Wilson )

Re-phrased Jun 9, 2006

I re-phrased the poll to allow you to pick the worst of the problems in case many are present.

Regards,
Enrique

Speech recognition software Jun 9, 2006

For those of you who answered "hands" or have any other health problems due to typing, I recommend Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Do take it seriously if you develop symptoms such as pain in your wrists, elbow, etc., otherwise you might end up with a permanent injury.

I use Dragon and it works excellent. It has built-in language modules, so it's perfect for a translator.

I've just started using it and I'm already a major fan

Not to mention that I can dictate at 140wpm, but my typing is only up to a measly 70wpm.

Thanks for the tip. I have had problems in wrists, elbow and shoulder for at least 2 years so will look into it!

Unfortunately my doctor didn't take me seriously when I said I had RSI 2 years ago...

My fibromyalgia cannot even get better with a voice recognition software, since it sometimes INCREDIBLY even affects my eyes (blurred vision) and may brain.

No major problems until now.... Jun 9, 2006

I have the following environment at my desk:

-19 inches LCD monitor (it saves a lot of eye-strain)
-Translation memory software (Wordfast/ TRADOS)
-Machine translation sofware combined with translation memory (unbeatable combination when it comes to saving on typing)
-Speech recognition software (for reducing typing at the minimum possible extent)

With this setting, sometimes I can reach 9000 words per day for technical translation.

Still no physical problems, maybe thanks to the "siesta" I take everyday .....

Weight gain... Jun 9, 2006

...and other problems related to limited exercise. Of course, I'm battling this with several exercise strategies--but that was a previous forum!
