Everyone is welcome to come and visit.

Registering necessary to post comments (sorry, it's the only way I've found to keep the vultures away!). It only takes a minute, though.

Please come and visit: "Translation Quality Blog" is still rather sparse, but in "About Translation" I think you could find something of interest.

Why a professional blog? Jun 14, 2006

I understand why some companies or individuals maintain "professional" blogs, but I'm having a hard time seeing what benefit a translator would find in keeping a blog. Would any members who maintain a professional blog care to shed some light on this?

Apart from sticking my nose into the polls and forums on this site... Jun 14, 2006

No.

Personally, I think it is more important to keep in touch with my family and real-life friends and colleagues.

Proz is my substitute for colleagues to chat with at coffee time and when I need a break. My virtual office if you like, and several Proz members are real friends. Others just feel like it, as familiar faces and respected opinions in the global community!

No blog Jun 14, 2006

I don't think that there is anybody out there in the world who is interested in what I'm doing or what I have to say.

Yes a blog! Simple, easy, wonderful Jun 14, 2006

[Especially after all the problems I encounter trying to publish my website - this morning it has disappeared again]

I am web design illiterate and a blog is a wonderful way to share stories, photos etc with family and friends that live far away (or not so far away). OK, there will only be about 10 people reading it, but isn't that great? There is always somebody interested in what you have to say!
Our donkeys and the dogs are greatly admired among family, friends and colleagues:

I had planned to write more about translation in my blog, but I find myself writing about other things instead

You can set up your own blog within minutes and it is free!

Happy blogging

A professional blog helps give you exposure Jun 14, 2006

Two reasons for a professional blog for me:

1) A venue where I can write about things that interest me professionally

2) Gaining more exposure: if your blog starts to attract readership, your name starts to appear more frequently on aimed web searches

Benefits of Blogging Jan 10, 2011

There are many advantages in keeping a blog. Firstly, there is the opportunity to carry out marketing without spending a bean. Then, the possibility of showcasing your work or presenting articles of interest to other translators. Finally, the possibility of learning from colleagues.

This is a bit late after the poll, but Jill Sommer's useful posting on 'Bloggers to watch in 2011 ' seems to have been well received on Twitter etc. http://translationmusings.com/
