Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down Well, I woke up Sunday morning With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt. And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, So I had one more for dessert. Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes And found my cleanest dirty shirt. Then I washed my face and combed my hair And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day. I'd smoked my mind the night before With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking. But I lit my first and watched a small kid Playing with a can that he was kicking. Then I walked across the street And caught the Sunday smell of someone's frying chicken. And Lord, it took me back to something that I'd lost Somewhere, somehow along the way. Pak jsem se protápal svou skříní pro oblečení a našel své nejčistší špinavé triko. Pak jsem se oholil a učesal si vlasy a klopýtal dolů ze schodů abych se setkal s dnem. Minulou noc jsem si vyudil mozek cigaretami a písněmi které jsem si vybíral. Ale zapálil jsem si svou první a sledoval dítě jak kope do plechovky. Pak jsem přešel osamělou ulici a zachytil vůni nedělního grilovaného kuřete a to mě stáhlo zpátky k něčemu co jsem po cestě někde nějak ztratil. Na ranním nedělním chodníku bych si Bože přál být ukamenován protože na neděli je něco co mě nutí cítit se sám. A není nic tak mrtvé ani z poloviny jako zvuk spících městských chodníků v ustupujícím nedělním ránu. V parku jsem uviděl tátu se smějící se malou holčičkou kterou on houpal. Zastavil jsem se vedle nedělní školy a poslouchal píseň kterou zpívali. Potom jsem zamířil zpátky domů a někde daleko zvonil osamělý zvon, a ozvěna se nesla údolím jako mizející sny včerejška. |
