Summary:This webinar will present advanced search techniques to enable medical translators to locate information on the Internet.
Description
This webinar will present advanced search techniques to enable medical translators to locate information on the Internet. Participants will learn how to streamline their searches to save time and optimize search results using Google Chrome. Examples will be presented using German, Russian and Arabic, but the strategies presented can be used with any language. The techniques to be presented include using images to find terminology, locating specific information within specific websites, locating pdf files containing specific information, and locating parallel texts. Metatags will be briefly discussed, because knowing their structure and function will help participants construct very effective searches using the information contained within those tags. Participants will receive a pdf version of the PowerPoint presentation along with the list of examples used during the presentation, as well as a handout with additional resources.

Recommendations

• For the visual section of the training course, we recommend that you have a 64kbps link. This means using an ISDN line or Broadband. Wireless connection is NOT recommended.
