Bio
I was born and raised in Mexico. I grew up surrounded by books because my parents were teachers and loved reading, music, and cultural activities in general. We also used to travel a lot. All those books and traveling inspired me and kept me entertained while the TV was usually out of order. Maybe that is why I always received excellent scores in any Language subjects and in any written assignments from grade school through university.

I owned and managed my own graphic design business called N'ajn Arte in Mexico City from 1989 to 1995, when I put the business on hold, and I started volunteering at Museo Dolores Olmedo Patiño, where I was hired in 1997 as an art teacher from 1996 to 2000. In 2000, I left the Museo Dolores Olmedo Patiño and started a museum-style gift shop in partnership with Blue Grama Gifts, a Canadian business. In 2001, we partnered with the Museo de Geología UNAM (Geology Museum of the UNAM) and established a gift shop in the Geology Museum of the UNAM. This new business ran very successfully until 2005, as it became too costly and complicated to run the gift shop efficiently a few years after I moved to Canada.

In 2004, I joined a Advanis Inc., a Canadian marketing research firm based in Edmonton to edi and correct text in Spanish. Over time, I started working on translations and transcriptions. I was part of a multicultural team from which I learned a lot. I discovered my vocation as a translator in this marketing research firm, and I still work with them as an independent contractor.

I became a freelance translator and interpreter since 2010. I serve the Hispanic community, several translation agencies, marketing research companies, and law firms.

Since 2002, I volunteer for The Mexican Cultural Society of Edmonton, holding several positions over the years such as Vice President, Interim President, Secretary, Cultural Events Coordinator, and English Conversation Club Facilitator. I have always supported my association with interpretation and translation from Spanish to English.

I have volunteered for the Edmonton Immigrant Services Association as a volunteer translator and interpreter since 2009, and I proofread for my fellow volunteer translators since 2011. All of the translations from this Association have been related to immigration and consist in credentials, certificates, and other legal documents.

I strive to constantly improve my skills and abilities, and I welcome every opportunity that helps me move ahead in the right direction.
