Source text - English When Brazilian indigenous leader Tashka Yawanawa saw the news on television that communities from Peru were campaigning to prevent the construction of dams close to their land, he had no doubt about how he could help.He turned on his computer, and using Skype, he contacted indigenous movements involved in the protest to offer both his support and to publicise the cause in Brazil.
"Today, indigenous groups can no longer escape the white man's technology," says Mr Yawanawa. "We have to update ourselves, and prepare to face this new world."
He belongs to the Yawanawa people, who live in the Brazilian Amazon, an area where indigenous communities have also fought many battles against hydroelectric dams.
He leads an organisation that seeks to build links with similar movements in other Latin American countries so they can learn from each other's campaigns.His initiative reflects an unprecedented effort among the region's indigenous groups, as they join forces to resist major projects which they see as damaging to their territories.
It is part of a growing conflict as governments, seeking what they say is badly needed economic growth, build roads and hydro-electric dams, and exploit natural resources such as oil, copper and gold.
At the same time, indigenous groups say they are fighting to ensure that their traditional way of life is preserved.Skype is one tool they are using to co-ordinate campaigns, alongside more traditional tactics such as adopting a unified position in international organisations including the UN and the Organisation of American States (OAS).
"We are mapping all the achievements of our fellow indigenous peoples in the continent in order to use their experiences here in Brazil," says Marcos Apurina from the Co-ordination of Indigenous Organisations of the Brazilian Amazon (Coiab). "Our problems are almost identical to the native peoples of other countries.

„Šiais laikais indėnų bendruomenės jau nebegali pasislėpti nuo baltųjų žmonių technologijų,“ sako ponas Javanava. „Turime tobulintis ir pasiruošti sutikti naująjį pasaulį.“
Taška yra vienas Javanava genties žmonių, gyvenančių prie Amazonės upės Brazilijoje; vietoje, kur indėnų būriai ilgai kovojo prieš hidroelektrines.

Tuo tarpu, indėnų bendruomenės teigia kovojančios už jų tradicinio gyvenimo sąlygų išlaikymą. Skype‘o programa yra vienas indėnų veiklos koordinavimo būdų kartu su jų bendros pozicijos plėtote tarptautinėse bendruomenėse, įskaitant JT ir Amerikos Valstybių Organizaciją (AVO).
„Mes sekame kiekvieną mūsų draugų-indėnų pasiekimą kontinente, kad galėtumėme pasinaudoti jų patirtimi čia, Brazilijoje,“ teigia ponas Markos’as Apurina iš organizacijos, koordinuojančios indėnų bendruomenes ties Brazilijos Amazonės upe (OKIBBA). „Mūsų bėdos yra beveik tapačios kitų šalių čiabuvių bėdoms.“

Source text - Lithuanian Klaipėdos uostas iš kitų uostų išsiskiria ne tik unikalia geografine padėtimi, bet ir savita konstrukcija, apsauginių molų ir kitų hidrotechninių įrengimų – krantinių, prieplaukų išdėstymų ir paskirtimi.
Išskirtinį Klaipėdos uosto bruožą sudaro jūros vartų konstrukcija.
Jame nėra avanuosto, nuo bangavimo apsaugotos jūrinės akvatorijos, kas būdinga daugeliui pasaulio uostų.
Į Klaipėdos sąsiaurį arba uostą laivai įplaukia ir išplaukia pro tiesią liniją, nutiestą šiaurės vakarų kryptimi.
Tokia uosto konstrukcija nevisiškai apsaugo uosto akvatoriją nuo bangų įtakos.

• Blaškeva – tai netvarkingas, chaotiškas bangavimas, kai skirtingų krypčių bangų sandūroje ant didesnių bangų lipa mažesnės bangos, o ant šių dar mažesnės.
• Vandensrūva – tai skirtingų krypčių vandens sluoksnių tiek vertikalioje, tiek horizontalioje padėtyje judėjimas.
Kartais vienu metu veikia visi trys fenomenai. Tokiu atveju laivą valdyti beveik neįmanoma.

Such construction of the sea port, however, cannot fully protect the sea port’s water area from the impact of the sea waves.
In time of storm, quite strong waves can be felt even near the Dane river (about 5 km from sea gates).
Klaipeda’s sea port is one of the most troublesome sea ports in the world.
It is strewn in plenty of drowned ships.
It is very difficult to moor the ship in Klaipeda’s sea port.
Even highly-experienced ship captains entrust the mooring to pilots, not to mention the capabilities of the captains who work on rafts between Klaipeda and Neringa.
The mooring principle can be changed twenty times a day.
It depends on such distinct phenomena of Klaipeda’s sea port as rolling, pitching and yawing.
• Rolling – waves of low frequency and long period that twitch a ship. Even the strongest ropes attaching ships to the quay cannot stand their impact. In this case, ropes brake as if they were the tiniest threads.
• Pitching – chaotic unrest of sea waves, occurring when at the junction of waves of different directions small waves get on the bigger ones, and the smallest get on the small ones.
• Yawing – vertical and horizontal movement of water layers of different directions.
Sometimes all three phenomena can take place at the same time. In such cases, it becomes almost impossible to control the ship.
