Bio
With a B.A. in English, an M.A. in technology applied to translation and more than 17 years of professional development in the translation industry, I pride myself in having a very unique linguistic and technical profile. I have participated in all of the linguistic and managerial aspects of localization and I'm highly specialized in marketing, IT, and Latin American Spanish.

I taught Business English at all levels for 5 years. Then I went on to work for a translation and software localization company in Barcelona, as Vendor Manager Assistant for 3 years. I was in charge of selection, evaluation, and testing of external vendors, allocation of vendors to translation projects, negotiation of rates on a project basis as well as volume discount and annual rebates, evaluation of subcontracting capacity to match production and sales needs, maintenance of database, follow-up on vendor’s performance and quality.

During my performance as VMA, the company opened a new office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I was in charge of the VM kick-off (calculating freelance rates, finding and testing translation resources and assigning them to the first projects). I participated in RFPs for potential clients completing the VM section.

I worked at VMware as a Technical Reviewer for LatAm content for 5 years. As an independent contractor I edited, reviewed, and processed files, coordinated review process with other team members, created review schedules, maintained glossaries and updated style guides, communicated translation vendors and localization teams, answered queries that came up during the localization process. I became familiar with VMware’s portfolio of products and oversee the linguistic quality of Latin American Spanish translations.

I'm currently working on a per project basis for several translation and localization vendors.

Specialties: I work mainly in the fields of IT (software, documentation and help, hardware, systems, networks, virtualization) business (internal security policies, human resources, newsletters, etc.), and marketing (product related white papers, datasheets, brochures, promotional e-mails, price lists, etc.). I started off in the localization business as Vendor Manager Assistant for an MLV in Spain, I have three years of experience, so I also offer these services.
