An Audiovisual Translator currently based in Castellón de la Plana(Spain), Andrea Polverini (pa Language Services) graduated at the University of Surrey (MA in Audiovisual Translation) in 2009.

After obtaining a BA in English at the “Università di Pisa” in 1998 (Erasmus student at the University of Cardiff between 1994 and 1995), he worked in countries such as Venezuela (1998-1999), Ireland (2000-2003), the UK (2012-2014) and Spain (2004-2008, 2009-2012, 2014 - to date). Having lived, worked and studied in countries where his working source languages (English and Spanish) are spoken, he has a very good understanding of their underlying cultures. This translates in high accuracy and less room for mistranslations.

Subtitling is his main specialty field. As an MA student, he was trained on Softel Swift and learned how to perform time-cueing and produce subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. He also received training in Audio Description. He has translated content for DVDs, TV series and programmes, and subtitled short films and documentaries.

During the time spent in Ireland and the Uk, he was employed in customer service and billing positions for companies such as United Airlines, UPS and WDS (Google). This working experience allowed him to become acquainted with some of the language used in the airline, logistics, and Internet-related business. The beginning of the time spent in Spain was marked by an important work experience in the reception of the 4 stars Hotel of a nationally well-known tourist resort (Marina d'Or). In the following years, thanks to it, Andrea felt comfortable in tackling the translation of projects related to tourism.

A language tutor for almost 18 years, he presently combines translating with both English and Italian classes. As an English teacher, he is Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Adults) certified and currently preparing for DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). This formal training and working experience make him extremely familiar with the subject matter and specific language related to Linguistics and ELT (English Language Teaching).
