I have paid for full membership at the beginning of this year, and answering KudoZ questions, following and participating in the forums, and attending a recent powwow has been very profitable, both in terms of new jobs (usually offered to me through visualization of my profile, more rarely from bids) and contacts. I placed an ad in the local yellow pages (no lead whatsoever), I sent out hundreds of emails to translation agencies (this landed me a couple of jobs), but by far the most efficient way of promotion was using the features that are available on ProZ.com.

I must say that I continue to be breathless at how well ProZ.com anticipates / accommodates the needs of freelance translators. . . I was tearing my hair out and tossing small wads of money down the drain trying to find an invoicing program that did only what yours now does and nothing more.

I would certainly recommend becoming a paying member at ProZ.com. I started with a free membership, but I have had much more work since I decided to invest in ProZ.com membership. Now I don't have any delay before quoting for a "private" job posting, I have access to the LWA of every outsourcer on the Blue Board, and I can meet fellow translators via the site or at a powwow.

I have been a paying member for a year by now and my second year just started. I see a great change in the number of my clients whom I contacted via Proz.com.

One thing is for sure, I have never regretted my membership: the forums contain a wealth of extremely useful information and colleagues are always willing to help with advice; the Blue Board has saved me from making bad business decisions on at least two occasions - saving me hundreds if not thousands of Euros and countless hours of lost time; both organizing and attending powwows has allowed me to meet some incredible people and build a strong network. Paying for membership is not only a way to gain access to all the site has to offer, for me it is also a way to support this community and encourage its development.
