Assistants Spécialistes

French to English Medical Medical (general)
These are listed on a post-operative report below the 'practiciens hospitaliers'. I'm not sure how to refer to them. I'm tempted to go for just 'Assistant Physicians' but are they more like junior doctors or house officers in the UK? Thanks

I have a surgical report from a French hospital. As is often the case the names of the departmental medical team (in the ENT department) are listed down one side under two headings; 'Practiciens Hospitaliers' (i.e. consultants) with their RPPS numbers and contact details. There are 6 doctors listed by name. Then comes the second heading, 'assistants spécialisés', under which 3 doctors names and contact details are given.

Always difficult to directly compare different medical training systems but I think this is the closest match in the UK
Assistants spécialisés are certainly more senior than interns but less senior than consultants

This link explains the difference between an "Assistant spécialiste" and a "Chef de clinique- assistant" both are post-intern but one is hospital-only, the other hospital+university.
