Hello all,
I'm looking for the best way to translate this term - I often struggle with how to translate "gêne." In this case, I have both "gêne respiratoire" and "gêne laryngée," which is confusing the issue a bit for me and I would love to hear your opinions on the matter.
Here is the context under History:
...apparition d'une gêne respiratoire et augmentation de la spasticité. Enfant tachycarde aux alentours de 175 bpm, polypnéique avec une gêne laryngée, et des signes de lutte.
Then under exam on admission:
dyspnée laryngée. Signes de lutte respiratoire initialement.
First of all, I would like to distinguish "gêne" from "lutte." (I would translate "lutte respiratoire" as "respiratory distress."
According to Termium, "Gêne respiratoire" = difficult respiration, respiratory embarrassment, difficult breathing
I want to be able to use the same word for "gêne" in both "gêne respiratoire" and "gêne laryngée," but the Termium terms for "gêne" don't exactly work with "laryngée."
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this question!
Thank you.
