I've not seen this with attivi (note this goes together) normally I'd translate as financial derivatives but with the attivi not so sure many thanks

If it's on the assets side of the balance sheet, you just need to put "financial derivatives".

Hi Aqua, a derivative is a security like a share or a bond. If you buy it you have and asset, "un attività" or "un attivo" in bilancio. If you sell it, you have a passività or a passivo. When Italians use the term derivato they always distinguish finanziario (e.g. interest rates or forex) and "materie prime" commodities which are normally commodities such as metals or grain or fruits. So while "financial derivatives" looks strange in English you can't leave "financial" out because the Italian is specifying that these are not "commodities".
