English term
the cooler seals back up
English to French
Other
Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Hi all,
I am translating some mechanical engineering content about a cooling system.
The sentence is:
When the engine cools down, the cooler seals back up and the cooling system can hold pressure even though the EGR cooler has failed.
My attempt would be:
les joints d'étanchéité du refroidisseur se remettent en place, but I am not sure...
Please help

: I don't think any positional inference should be drawn from 'to seal up', and hence, I don't think 'se remettre en place' is applicable; nothing say they were ever out of place.

It is an inference indeed. I was tempted to ask the translator for additional clues before submitting a suggestion. I then decided to go ahead with it anyways as they are in a position to decide about their appropriateness. What is your suggestion Tony?
