Kroggård doesn't denote a shape, however, this is a very old word for farm in Danish.
One of the small things one learns in Farming school in Denmark. (thought the class that day was pointless, proven wrong again it seems)

I should add though, it does mean the business end of the farm is part of the same building as the living area, be it I, L or U shaped.
