Discussion

Dan Schioenning Larsen Feb 24, 2005:
Clearingnummer er korrekt. Det tilsvarer det danske registreringsnummer. http://www.nordea.se/sitemod/default/widecarea.aspx?pid=2093...
Finn Skovgaard (X) Feb 23, 2005:
I see. I don't know Swedish account number standards, but the DK reg.nr. and the UK sort code each identify the bank that holds the account "kontonr." within their respective national banking systems. You need both for a national bank transfer.
Non-ProZ.com Feb 23, 2005:
Finn: It is actually for Sweden. My thinking was that it maybe meant "clearing number", clearingnummer in Swedish.
Finn Skovgaard (X) Feb 23, 2005:
Is this for English-speaking clients of a Danish bank? The question is not purely linguistic, as the terms depend on the countries involved. E.g.: Metro, tube, underground, subway are essentially the same thing, but you don't take the tube in Paris.

Sort code

Sort code, sometimes abbreviated SC, is the UK equivalent to the Danish reg.nr. For other English-speaking countries, I don't know.

Routing number is the US terms. If this is for an international audience, I would be tempted to write (bank) registration number.
