Dutch term

faalvorm / faaleffect / faalwijze

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Economics
The whole sentence: Het oorzakelijk verband tussen de faalvorm en het faaleffect bij gebeurtenissen noemt men de faalwijze van een object.

I translated "faalvorm" as "failure mode" and "faaleffect" as "failure effect". I can't find a translation for "faalwijze" anywhere.

Discussion

Harry Borsje May 1, 2007:
Failiure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a well-known method, but I find the 'overall' Dutch term a bit awkward and artificial. Maybe it's supposed to refer to the chain/sequence of events related to a failure.

Selected

failure type / effect of the failure / failure process

would be my take, whereby failure can also be replaced by malfunction, depending on the type of failures htey are talkking about.
