I am looking for a fitting term to translate the woord "brugfiguur" in English. A "brugfiguur" is someone who acts as a contact person/mediator/problem solver between two groups of people, who "bridges" the cultural, behavioural, linguistic and/or other differences between these groups so that any misunderstandings may be prevented (or resolved).
I have often used the words contact person and mediator, but this does not always reflect correctly what the "burgfiguur" actually stands for.

I don't have any problem with "officer" myself, but if you're not keen on it, you could just leave it out.

Or parent and community liaison:

liaison officer; liaison
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liaison_officer
'A liaison officer or LNO is a person that liaises between two organizations to communicate and coordinate their activities. Generally, they are used to achieve the best utilization of resources or employment of services of one organization by another. In the military, liaison officers may coordinate activities to protect units from collateral damage. They also work to achieve mutual understanding or unity of effort among disparate groups.[1] For incident or disaster management, liaison officers serve as the primary contact for agencies responding to the situation. Liaison officers often provide technical or subject matter expertise of their parent organization. Usually an organization embeds liaison officers in other organizations to provide face-to-face coordination.'

: Either this or perhaps "bridge builder" (NL bruggenbouwer), depending on the wider context.

bridge builder
"liaison officer" sounds a bit too "official" for me. I would have gone for mediator, but maybe that is not enough in some instances. "bridge builder" seems a good expansion of that term.
Discussion
I think maybe ‘mediator’ will do in your context.
A "brugfiguur" is kind of a translator, not so much of languages, but more of cultures, customs, views. You could compare this (in immigration matters) to a "intercultureel bemiddelaar"
EXAMPLE SENTENCES:
the teaching force has been less willing in recent years to devote unpaid hours to community bridge-building
This will require leadership, compromise and bridge-building.
Your work of years of bridge-building can be undone in minutes.
I think it may even be a genuine attempt at bridge-building.
However, Medici's bridge-building policy proved no better at preventing revolt.
The alliance needs a bridge-building policy to resolve its military problems.
bridge-builder (NOUN)
EXAMPLE SENTENCES:
The world continues to mourn this man, a torch-bearer of peace and a bridge-builder between faiths.
Turkey was in a position to play the role of bridge-builder between the Occidental and Muslim worlds.
The future belongs to the bridge-builders, not the wreckers.
The dwarf bridge-builders were as good as their word.
Nor are they worried much about the fighting that may well surround the bridge-builders as they do their job.

If you are going to use 'bridge builder', I think it should probably be hyphenated.
btw, I think ‘mediator’ is also a pretty good option.
Oxford again:
liaison = A person who acts as a link to assist communication or cooperation between people: 'he’s our liaison with a number of interested parties'
or
liaison officer = A person who is employed to form a working relationship between two organizations to their mutual benefit: 'the school’s police liaison officer'
