Since the general theme of all of my work since 1992 has been the year 2012 and its probable consequences, I believe that Planet X is a theme that we *must ignore at our peril. *That is also why I later did a three part TV series for the Mondo 21 channel on the subject of 2012.

｢惑星Ｘ」についての本の序文です。must ignore at our periの前後をそのまま訳せば、「惑星Ｘについて論じることは、危険を覚悟で敢えて避けるべきだと考える」となると思うのですが、惑星Ｘに関する本の序文としてはつじつまが合わないように思います。
惑星Ｘを無視することは危険を覚悟しなくてはいけない→無視すると後で後悔しますよ、といった意味合いなのでしょうか？
