Le cartilage quadrangulaire et le vomer reposent sur la crête maxillaire ou rail prémaxillo-maxillo-palato-vomérien (PMPV). Ce rail est la zone de fusion sagittale des lames horizontales des os maxillaire et palatin avec leur homologue controlatéral. Le cartilage quadrangulaire repose sur le prémaxillaire et l’épine nasale antérieure (ENA). Cette union assure le soutien du tiers moyen du dos du nez.
