German term

Empfängerauflösung

German to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software
The overall context is e-mail security and the specific context here is e-mail splitting.

"Eine Bcc: Empfängerauflösung aufgrund einer kryptographischen Formatanalyse darf nicht möglich sein."

Can anyone help me with Auflösung here? I don't know what is meant.

identify / decrypt

just a thought...

A Bcc: It should not be possible to identify the recipients' [pl sing?](email adresses) through (a decryption procedure)

There is probably a more elegant way of putting it...

P.S.
*resolve* might also be an option, but it depends on what exactly *Empfängerauflösung* means here
see link and use Ctrl F for main entry *resolve*
Peer comment(s):

agree Ken Cox : Effectively what it means, but in the context 'resolve' is probably best (std term). A URL can be resolved to a TCP/IP address, or an ID can be resolved to a user name.. A Bcc: recipient is a 'hidden' recipient (unknown to the main or cc: recipient(s)).

agree FSI (X) : [decrypt] sounds good

agree Seger Bonebakker (X) : "Auflösung" might very well be a clumsy translation of "Resolve" in the first place.
