In 1957, a continuous roller called a Rotorvane was invented by Ian McTear, of the Tea Research Station at Tocklai in Assam. It was ahead of its time but with the advent of teabags it was ideally suited to partner another machine, which was also well ahead of it's time - the CTC machine. This was invented by W. McKercher in 1931 and consisted of two stainless toothed rollers, intermeshing and cutting against each other. It gave a high percentage of small leaf grades called Fannings which were perfect for teabags. They brewed up in half the time and gave a strong, satisfying cup of tea. The Rotorvane pre-conditioned the withered leaf and fed this into a bank of CTC machines. The process of rolling was now continuous, and as more and more tea drinkers converted to tea bags, the Rotorvane/CTC type of manufacture became more widespread.

b. Rotervan

CTC'de olduğu gibi diğer makinelerle birleşmeden yaprağı işleyebilir. Tam soldurulmuş yaprakla daha randımanlıdır. Türkiye'de rotorvane ile üretim denemeleri yapılmalıdır.
