CRISPR is the genome editing tool that
scientists use to cut and paste DNA.
Just like you would edit a sentence
in a document.
It's, in short, it allows you to change
the function of living cells.
I became the executive director of the
Innovative Genomics Institute,
the IGI, in 2020, the same year that
our founder, Jennifer Doudna,
won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her
pioneering work in CRISPR.
