Firefox Dec 21, 2024

I'd been using Brave for a good while, but now switching back to Firefox. Considering that I was a Firefox user since version 3.5, it makes me feel like going back home.

Brave Dec 21, 2024

Seeing how Chrome is currently at the top of this poll, I say Brave needs to get more traction.
It is Chromium-based and rids you of a majority of all the annoying cr*p that is currently making the internet a sad farce.
Just imagine using a browser that looks and feels mostly like Chrome, but not being greeted by annoying cookie banners (Brave auto-rejects all unnecessary cookies), and walls of ads. It even gets rid of YouTube ads.
Oh, and of course, it offers an integrated VP

I used Firefox for a good while and then my computer got really slow. My IT technician suggested that I switched to Chrome, so I have been using it since…

Google Chrome is ram eater, I also like Opera very much and I installed it again on my laptop, and on my PC I switched to Firefox.

I only whish they would manage to make it less RAM heavy. I think this could also lead to wider adoption.

Well, you could always use Lynx web browser. It only needs 10 MB of your precious RAM.

On a more serious note, you'd be hard-pressed to find a web browser that isn't RAM heavy nowadays. Those fancy GUIs and speedy performance come at a price, you know.

Mozilla has been working on improving Firefox performance using ForkServer. It's been enabled by default in the Nightly builds since the last 3 months, and it's deemed to be ready for the final builds. According to benchmark data, ForkServer lowers memory consumption by around 50%, and reduces content process startup by around 35%.

That is, if you're on Linux.

A de-googled version of Chromium Feb 12

Yes, there is such thing. In effect Chrome liberated from Google's obsessive compulsive data siphoning.

And it works pretty well.
