My last client made a point to let me know that he owned the copyrights to the documents I was translating. Does this really concern me? (I understand that I cannot start to publish these documents and I offered to sign a document). Should I be worried about violating copyrights every time a document comes across my desk?

That is great. Ask him what share of his copyrights he will give you as translator (normally 1 to 2 %)
