yes you do May 8, 2010

you must have trados 2007. It comes bundled with STudio 2009 (2 separate licences, 2 separate downloads).
Then open Studio>home>upgrade translation memories.
It's pretty simple

Same problem here. May 8, 2010

When I upgraded to Studio 2009 (and Studio 2007) from SDL trados 2007 I was told by the sales team to uninstall SDL trados 2007 from my PC before installing Studio, which I did.

When I then tried to convert my TMs I got the same message. It seems that in order to upgrade TMs the original trados programme must be installed on the computer and unless I've misunderstood, the TMs first need to be converted to Studio 2007 and then Studio 2009.

Just to clarify: I'm trying to

The Trados 2009 Migration Guide says this:

When upgrading your translation memories you are required to have the application where the translation memory was created and SDL Trados Studio installed on your computer.

download it from sdl May 9, 2010

Hi Irena
If you haven't got Trados 2007 on your computer, go to the sdl website https://oos.sdl.com/asp/products/ssl/account/
and download it.

Trial version? May 9, 2010

If Irena is using the trial version of Studio 2009, she won't have been able to download Trados 2007 but if she has a full licence, she should find the program in the My Downloads section of her SDL account as Emma says.

If she already has Trados 2007, it will be on her computer in a folder called SDL, next to the SDL International folder where Studio 2009 resides.

TRADOS 2009 since November last year May 9, 2010

Hi Emma, Hi Giles,

thanks a lot for your advice.
I have bought TRADOS 2009 last November without TRADOS 2007.
I try to download TRADOS 2007 as well. Once again thanks.

Best wishes

Irena V.

Trados 2007 is included in the bundle May 10, 2010

Hello Irena et al,
as Emma says, Trados 2007 is included in the Studio 2009 bundle. If you don't have it, it only means that you haven't installed it.
However, feel free to send me the TMs in question, Irena; I'll be happy to upgrade them for you if you desperately need to have them upgraded right now.

MY DOWNLOADS May 10, 2010

Hello Stanislav,

thanks a lot for your reply. I looked at my account at SDL, but TRADOS 2007 was not present there, and I tried to find the files to download. After a while, I found some files of TRADOS 2007 to download, but the files - or the links- were not active.

I still haven´t received any response from the client, maybe they find some solution.

In case You could provide me with TM-files from TRADOS 2009, thank you in advance.

Best wish

Are you sure? May 10, 2010

Are you sure, Irena?

Go to My Downloads and click on the "+" next to "SDL Trados Studio 2009 Freelance Plus SP2 - Now Available!" to expand it.

You should then see three big red buttons with links to SDL Trados Studio SP2, SDL MultiTerm 2009 Desktop SP2 and SDL Trados 2007 Suite Freelance.

Hi Irena,
that's indeed strange. The "My Downloads" area in your account should look like in this image you can find here: http://www.preklad.eu/img/my_downloads.jpg

Make sure you expand the "+" sign and then scroll down the Javascript panel for the download link. If it's non-functioning, you should definitely contact SDL Support.
