Hi, I'm Ella, and I'm a freelance French and Spanish to native English translator and proofreader, with additional experience in subtitling and transcription. I also provide English copywriting services.
Born in Liverpool, England, with Irish heritage, now residing in Scotland, if you don't want your texts translated into British English, I am happy to tweak the spellings to US English, or work with a proofreader to get your desired variant of English.
In a former life, I worked for an international recruitment company specialised in renewable energy and clean technology. As a result, I have plenty of experience with all things wind and solar, energy and environment, and have translated many a contract, hr documentation, job descriptions, etc. I also worked in student finance, translating ID documents, birth certificates, marriage certificates, visas, proof of address and income, payslips and bank statements. I have a Master’s Degree in French and Hispanic Studies from the University of Glasgow (2015), and spent time working and studying in France, Spain, and South America,meaning I’m interested in working with texts from mainland Spain, but also further afield. Likewise for French speaking clients from France, but also French speaking Canada.
The more creative, the better. My work so far has included graphic novels, self-help books, travel writing, educational materials for language learning, writing on accountancy and bookkeeping, entrepreneurship, and project management, subtitling telenovelas, writing about yoga, research papers on medicine, science, psychology, social media posts, website copy, and press releases.
Previous clients have included private health care providers, Netflix, Ferrero, airports including CDG, travel agents, Carte Noire, Avis vehicle hire, various start ups - most with a ‘green’ focus, Palmolive, Dove, Weleda, Le Petit Marseillais, Siemens, Stadia streaming software, Kronenbourg, Natixis, Sanpellegrino, a nursery furniture and toy company, and numerous translation agencies.
