...On the 6th of March of 2004 my boss said to me that he wanted to chat with me and he invited me to a luxurious restaurant called "xxxx" in Mexico City. There he told me that he could see that I was a very hard-working and dedicated person and above all, loyal as a dog and that the time had come for me to integrate myself more into the company. As well, he said that they really were dedicated to laundering the money of drug traffickers and that they wanted to make me a partner in the company. They only thing I needed to do was to lend my name, my person, and my signature as a proxy so that they could buy properties, good furniture, luxury cars, mansions, and stock options.

My name is Jonathan Whiteside, I'm a translator and a certified interpreter in Toronto. The languages I work with are Spanish and English.
I was born in Colombia but of Canadian parents who lived and worked there. Although my education has always been in English, I grew up completely bilingual.
When I was a teenager, I came to Canada to attend high school and then I obtained an honours bachelor's degree in medieval history at the University of Toronto. This education had a lot to do with studying languages. Subsequently, I received a master's degree at Toronto Baptist Seminary.
For the last 15 years, I have worked in a Spanish environment as the pastor of a Spanish speaking church in Toronto. This has required that I be completely comfortable speaking in both Spanish and English. Translation work is a part and parcel of this job. Much of my time is invested in helping newcomers to Canada with their legal problems which has involved me in doing extensive translation interpretation work.
I am also the president of "Canadian Human Rights International Organization" (A Spanish language organization), which has involved me all the more in the English/Hispanic environment.
My mind thinks in English, but most of my time is spent in a Hispanic environment. You can rest assured that when you contract my services, you will receive a professional translation.
Although I specialize more than anything else in legal documents, I also have experience in translating theological, military, and business materials. Having worked as a pastor has allowed me to become familiar with theological language. As well, having worked for the Canadian Armed Forces for 10 years has given me the knowledge for translating military documents.
My wife is Mexican, and so if I have problems understanding a term, she is able to help to understand the sense. As a translator, I have the great advantage of being able to count on her help in my work.
