Spanish term

realiza unas 70.000 extracciones de sangre

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Blood donations / Spain
It wouldn't be "blood draws" or "blood samples", since the reference is clearly to larger quantities of blood taken for the purposes of later transfusion. But I'm blocking on the proper word....

collects 70,000 blood donations

I really think it needs to be restructured this way or else it sounds like it was translated by someone who doesn't speak English very well.

"The blood donation center collects approximately 200,000 whole blood donations per year and is involved in peripheral blood progenitor cell harvesting and cryopreservation as well as bone marrow processing."

I prefer "collects" blood donations. Ultimately, the patient "receives" donated blood, and hospitals receive the donated blood, but the donor centers collect the blood.

neutral Muriel Vasconcellos : That isn't the same thing at all.

Yes it is. It's exactly the same thing.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I've discovered that "blood draws," first suggested by femme, is indeed acceptable in the context of receiving blood donations, but I like Jack's suggestion better as I think "drawing" blood is still more commonly associated with extracting a patient's blood for laboratory analysis. Thanks to all for responding."

carries out /performs approximately 70,000 blood extractions / takings

Both "extractions" and "takings" are quite often used as a translation of "extracción" with "sangre"; however, I, personnally like "extractions" more (subjective, I know).

performs / makes / carries out around 70,000 blood collections (UK)

Collection would be the term used in the UK - don't know if it's the one you're after Robert, since you're asking from the US.

The National Blood Service (http://www.blood.co.uk/) coordinates donations in the UK.

blood draws

I agree with blood draws as it seems to be used quite frequently. I think that blood taking and blood samples are for small quantities for testing like you said.
Example sentence:

Human blood draws conducted outside of clinical care areas.
