¿Qué quiere decir? Entiendo el sentido literal, desde luego, pero ¿cómo se emplea este refrán? ¿A qué tipo de situaciones se aplica? ¿Cómo podría resumirse su significado en español? He visto ejemplos de su uso, pero no consigo captar exactamente lo que implica. Por eso me resulta imposible, de momento, proponer una traducción o evaluar las que ya se han propuesto.

This popular saying might be a good equivalent in some contexts.
