Spanish term

barrera articular

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Health Care Osteopathy
Hello,

I'm translating a medical journal about the use of the thrust technique to treat dysfunctions in the cervical spine and I'm a little stuck on this sentence:

"Para aumentar la sensación de barrera articular, realizamos un deslizamiento lateral hacia el lado contrario a la lesión, del segmento a manipular, deslizamiento anterior y aumento ligero de la rotación."

Is the term "joint barrier" commonly used in English? I haven't come across it in my research.
Perhaps a suitable translation could be "to increase the locked sensation in the joints" or something like that?

Keen for some wisdom from the floor!
Thanks!

joint end feel

This includes "sensación", because the whole phrase goes together.

"Sensaciones de tope en la movilización articular
Al realizar una movilización percibimos la sensación de los tejidos cuando llegan a su extremo de movimiento. Es lo que llamamos sensación de barrera, tope o resistencia que impide el movimiento en el extremo de la movilidad pasiva."

"end feel
a characteristic sensation perceived by the examiner when the end of joint range of motion is reached. The six types of joint end feel most often used are bone to bone, soft tissue approximation, spasm end feel, empty end feel, capsular end feel, and springy block."

"This type of joint end-feel is characterized by a “yielding compression” as is typically encountered with knee or elbow flexion."
