Swedish term

SKÄGG (PLAST SOM HÄNGER NER FRÅN INSIDAN AV AMPULLHALSEN)

Swedish to English Medical Medical (general) Standard Operating Procedure in pharmaceutical manufaturing
in an SOP from a pharmaceutical company, there is mentioning of KONTROLL AV SKÄGG (PLAST SOM HÄNGER NER FRÅN INSIDAN AV
AMPULLHALSEN). The explanation is in the parenthesis but is there an equivalent word in English (beard?)

Discussion

Deane Goltermann Mar 12, 2018:
Your fallback position would then be to use 'defect' for for the unknown 'skägg'...
Paul Armitage Mar 12, 2018:
From all I can read here... ... it seems to refer to the moulding and/or sealing of the ampoules. I believe there is a machine that fills and seals them.
Deane Goltermann Mar 12, 2018:
I can only say that that isn't what your sentence says... from what you've shown it makes sense to make sure there aren't impurities/defects in your ampules before filling them ... We never get a good picture of these things, do we! ;-)
Shlomo (Salomon) Liberman (asker) Mar 12, 2018:
Customer input A non-technical customer rep suggested the following
"as this SOP refers to the filling of the ampules. I believe this “Skägg” term refers to the “bristles” or “brush” on the filling machine"
Appreciate comments on this.

burr / flash http://www.craftechind.com/types-plastic-burrs-deburring-pro...

At the link above you will see that burr and flash are synonymous. I have no idea which word is the more common, and since Deane's already answered, I have given my agreement.

Skägget ska klassas som ej trådigt om skägget inte kan röra sig i lösningen.

agree Paul Armitage : I was going to answer 'burr' but think this is synonymous with flash.

Thanks, Paul! I'd say burr refers to metal, but maybe not...actually, it looks like burr refers to caused by processing a piece (as with milling), and flash is leftovers from production. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burr_(edge)
