party caucus
Take a look at the following article:
http://www.ahram.org.eg/acpss/eng/ahram/2004/7/5/EGYP4.HTM
"During the 8th National Democratic Party (NDP) Congress, the party approved new statutes. Article 67 of the statues stipulate that nomination of candidates for general elections should take place through party caucuses. The party approval of the change came after a young cohort inside the NDP, acting in alliance with some of the old guard, assumed key positions in the Secretariat of Policies. In a sense, the 2000 elections gave the young cohort the chance to assume key positions inside the party and introduce changes. Young NDP leaders had visited various governorates and were eager to give party politics a western makeover."

Comment: "Thank Fuad, Party Caucus was more fitting for my context.
Dina : Electoral college is a correct translation but not - I think - in this context. The sentence describes the mujama3 strictly as a party matter."

caucus meeting (US) / selection meeting (UK)
caucus in this sense would not be used outside of the USA (i.e. in the UK, ROI and the Commonwealth). Hustings may be the term you are looking for but the meaning is far wider than just a simple meeting. Hustings are held to help chose candidates. Perhaps the word you need, if your audience is not American, is "selection meeting" which is what political parties in the UK hold to select candidates to stand at elections (general, local, etc.)
