Speaking to more people, it turns out that this term can also be used to describe a normal skin color somewhere between black and white (could be yellow or yellowish-brown, for example).

Thank you both for your help. Lamis, I really appreciate the links you provided. Regarding the color, I found it odd that the author of the story you posted described turquoise as royal blue. In fact, turquoise is usually somewhere between blue and green and can sometimes look like green tinged with gray. Royal blue, on the other hand, is a rich dark blue that is tinged with purple. The two colors are thus (in my mind) very different.

Although the person with this skin color is not ill, he has a rare condition which gives his skin an odd appearance. Now that I understand what "لون زينب" is (thanks to your generous help), I now have something to go on when determining which color fits best for the condition.

ما هو اللون؟ عذراً يا سيد محمد، فالسودانيون أنفسهم غير متفقين ما هو لون زينب فما بالك بسورية/لبنانية تسمع به للمرة الأولى؟ :-) بعضهم يقول إنه الأزرق وآخرون يؤكدون أنه الأخضر ومنهم من يقول إنه بينهما، ولكن من السياق إن كان يشير إلى لون البشرة فربما الأصح أن يكون أزرق.
هاك حوار قرأته في بداية بحثي قبل أن أجيب ولم أضعه لأنني لا أحب الشتائم حتى ولو عن طريق المزح ولكنني ساضعه لمجرد دعم الفكرة
