Canyoneering
Sounds like canyoneering to me. Please check the description below to see if it accurately describes the activity you're translating..
Canyoneering* simply and broadly defined is the act of traveling through a canyon—by foot, bike, or boat. Standard usage of the term among most participants and on this website refers to the hiking aspect of canyoneering. Canyons vary greatly in their depth, width, and composition, and for this reason canyoneering can entail much more than a casual walk between canyon walls. Many canyons require specialized gear and techniques to traverse them successfully and safely—this is known as technical canyoneering. Technical canyoneering necessitates the use of much the same gear (ropes, harnesses, webbing, etc.) and techniques (chimneying, stemming, rappelling, etc.) employed by cavers and climbers, making it a hybrid sport. The sheer number of canyons and their varying technical diversity allow people of all ages and skills levels to enjoy the sport of canyoneering.
*Outside of the United States, most countries refer to canyoneering as canyoning.
